The International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) has become the second International Federation (IF) to apply a blanket ban on Russian athletes competing at the forthcoming summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, as International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Thomas Bach sought to defend its decision not to exclude Russia’s entire team.
