US diplomatic boycott of Beijing 2022 ‘still under consideration’

The US government is still considering a 'diplomatic boycott' of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics to signal concern over alleged human rights abuses by China, according to news reports.

A column in The Washington Post this week said President Joe Biden was expected to announce before the end of this month that neither he nor any American officials would attend the event. However, the report noted "the administration technically has not finalised this decision".
