The Savannah Bananas announced that they will no longer play in the Coastal Plain League, a collegiate amateur baseball league, instead transition to year-round “Banana Ball” beginning in 2023.

The Bananas will play every game under rules that include a two-hour time limit, no stepping out of the batter’s box, no bunting, no walks, while foul balls caught by fans will count for outs. The first time Banana Ball was played was in an exhibition game in 2018 where a nine-inning game finished in 99 minutes.
