(Seattle Kraken/NHL)

The National Hockey League’s 32nd franchise the Seattle Kraken has unveiled the team’s mascot, a sea-troll named Buoy, ahead of the Kraken’s second season.

Buoy is inspired by the 32-year-old Seattle landmark, the Fremont Troll, which stands under the George Washington Memorial Bridge. The Kraken have called the Fremont Troll Buoy’s uncle. The effort is part of a broader marketing initiative designed to capitalize on the widespread success of the franchise's debut.
