Corica Park in Alameda, California, has emerged as the front-runner to stage a PGA Tour event next September hosted by NBA superstar Stephen Curry.
According to a local report, PGA Tour officials visited Corica’s South Course – which reopened in June after an extensive redesign – twice in 10 days recently.
Sports agency Octagon, which represents Curry, recently created a job posting for a tournament director of the as-yet-unnamed event, which is tentatively slotted for Sept 19-22, 2019.
Tour officials are also close to finalizing an agreement with a Bay Area company to become title sponsor of Curry’s event. It is unclear if the Golden State Warriors guard, a keen golfer, will be given a sponsor’s exemption to play but his presence would certainly generate huge fan interest.
