MLB signs betting data distribution deal with Swish Analytics

Major League Baseball has added California-based technology company Swish Analytics as its third authorized data distributor to US sports betting operators.

Swish Analytics, which specializes in prop bets, will serve as a supplier of the MLB real-time betting data based in the country to regulated sports betting operators. The deal makes Swish Analytics the league’s third company to gain that designation, joining prior agreements with Sportradar, and Perform. 

Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal is intended in part to take advantage of Swish Analytics’ machine learning capabilities to aid in the development of new betting products, particularly in-game, as well as free elements for consumers.

“This will provide baseball fans with robust options to engage with games through sports betting and free-to-play experiences,” said Kenny Gersh, MLB executive vice president of gaming and new ventures. 

Authorized sportsbook operators with the league, which include MGM Resorts International, DraftKings, and most recently FanDuel, are required to buy data directly MLB-approved data providers. As a result, the move to designate multiple approved data providers is designed to keep that data competitively priced in the market.
