The executive board of the International Olympic Committee has approved the Paris 2024 organising committee’s plans for a new urban sports arena near the Champs-Elysées and also given the green light for surfing events to be held in Tahiti.

Paris 2024 first unveiled plans for its Place de la Concorde urban sports venue in December. The arena will join the Champs-Elysées to the Tuileries Gardens in central Paris and the IOC said the “unique” concept of a temporary multi-sport venue aligns with Olympic Agenda 2020’s New Norm model.
