The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has filed an antitrust lawsuit against Microsoft in the United States to challenge the US-based technology giant's attempt to acquire video game publisher and major esports entity Activision Blizzard in a $68.7bn (€60.4bn), all-cash deal.
Announced in January, Microsoft said the deal would lead to the formation of the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, trailing only Tencent and Sony.
