Tennis Australia has backed its under-fire chief executive Craig Tiley as the deportation of top-seed Novak Djokovic threatens to overshadow the Australian Open.
In its first statement since Djokovic was returned to Serbia this weekend, the Tennis Australia board thanked Tiley for his “dedication” but admitted “recent events have been a significant distraction for everyone” and said it “deeply regrets” the impact on the tournament.
