Relevent Sports establishes LaLiga-Serie A Cup

Relevent Sports Group, the creators of the International Champions Cup, has established a new pre-season tournament known as the LaLiga-Serie A Cup, a home-and-away series featuring teams from the Spanish and Italian top divisions.

In the inaugural competition this summer, FC Barcelona and SSC Napoli will meet on August 7 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, and August 10 at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

LaLiga has entered into a 15-year joint-venture partnership with Relevent Sports, which was founded by Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, to grow the league in North America.

FC Barcelona, meanwhile, has a regional office in New York and is looking to establish a team in the National Women’s Soccer League to grow its brand in the US.

This summer’s trip to the US will be Napoli’s first in more than 30 years. “To have the opportunity to reintroduce SSC Napoli to the American market in this historic matchup against a world class club is huge for us,” said Napoli chairman Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Relevent Sports is also arranging a friendly between the Brazil and Peru men’s national teams at the United Airlines Field at the Los Angeles Coliseum in Los Angeles, California, on September 10.
