Organisers of the postponed Rugby League World Cup 2021 have today (Thursday) confirmed the tournament will now take place from October 15 to November 19 next year, ensuring no overlap with football’s 2022 Fifa World Cup.

The staging of RLWC2021 in England was postponed to 2022 earlier this month, following the earlier withdrawal of the Australia and New Zealand teams. Organisers announced that they had taken the “extremely difficult decision” after a meeting of the RLWC2021 board, including representation from the UK government and the International Rugby League board.
