Milan added to Boston Celtics’ NBA Global Games schedule

The National Basketball Association has announced that the Boston Celtics will travel to Italy to play a pre-season game on October 6 against Olimpia Milano as part of the NBA Global Games Europe 2015 series.

The 17-time NBA champion Celtics will play the three-time Euroleague champion and 26-time Lega Basket Serie A champion Olimpia Milano at the Mediolanum Forum in Milan.  This will be the Celtics’ seventh game in Europe and second contest in Milan, having previously played there in 2012.

The Celtics will also play a regular-season game in Mexico City on December 3 as part of NBA Global Games 2015, with a number of additional games around the world having already been confirmed for the series. The Los Angeles Clippers will face Charlotte Hornets in Shenzhen on October 11 and Shanghai on October 14. Orlando Magic will take on Brazilian club Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro on October 17.

NBA Global Games Europe 2015 will also feature a range of interactive fan activities and NBA Cares community events that will seek to bring the NBA experience to Milan.

Olimpia Milano president Flavio Portaluppi said: “We'll play in Chicago and New York against Maccabi (Tel Aviv) and then head home to Italy to play the Boston Celtics which will be an exciting week for us as a team. We appreciate the opportunity to play such a spectacular opponent in front of our loyal fans.”
