European football’s governing body Uefa and the South American Football Confederation (Conmebol) have announced that London will host the new ‘Finalissima’ event being planned between the reigning champions of the European Championships and Copa América, with the two governing bodies renewing and extending their Memorandum of Understanding.

The Finalissima will see Euro 2020 winner Italy take on Copa América 2021 champion Argentina at a yet-to-be-determined stadium in London on June 1, 2022. The event had been first proposed back in September, with initially three editions being put forward.
