LA Angels poised to remain in Anaheim through 2020

The LA Angels and the city of Anaheim are expected to finalise a one-year lease extension that will keep the MLB club at Angel Stadium through 2020.

The Anaheim City Council is expected to vote on the proposal on Tuesday.

Long-term issues remain however. In October, the Angels opted out of a lease that would have bound them to play at the venue through 2029.

The Angels have been exploring other potential new homes throughout southern California – in Los Angeles, Carson, Irvine and Tustin – but renovating Angel Stadium or building a new ballpark in Anaheim remain options.

The Angels have played at Angel Stadium, the fourth-oldest venue in the major leagues, since it opened in 1966.
