Earlier this week, the ISU announced that the 2017 edition of its European Speed Skating Championships would take place in Heerenveen after the Polish capital of Warsaw was forced to withdraw its rights for the event due to “major issues” with the host venue. Heerenveen will stage the event from January 6-8.
