IPL teams ‘approach Australian cricketers about year-round contracts’

Indian Premier League teams have made informal approaches to Australian cricketers about year-long playing contracts, a concept that could shake up international cricket, The Sydney Morning Herald has reported.

The report backs up an exclusive story by UK newspaper The Telegraph in July that companies running franchises in the IPL and other T20 cricket leagues around the world were pursuing full-time contracts with top players. This could mean players turning their backs on traditional contracts with national cricket boards that lock them into national team appearances.
