Fifa has said that it is “well on track” to exceed its revenue target of $6.44bn (€5.69bn) for the 2019-22 cycle after its commercial revenues recovered last year following 2020 figures hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Its latest accounts show the international federation pulled in $766.5m of revenues in 2021; 3 per cent above the budget target and a 187-per-cent increase on 2020, when it posted revenue of $266.5m.
