ESPN: NBA’s Grizzlies best US sport franchise

ESPN The Magazine has named National Basketball Association (NBA)’s Memphis Grizzlies as "the best franchise in sports".

The magazine’s annual report ranks franchises from the NBA, National Football League (NFL), National Hockey League (NHL) and Major League Baseball (MLB). Criteria taken into consideration for the ranking have previously included financials, stadium experience, performance and fan relations.

Last year the Grizzlies ranked fifth in ESPN’s publication, ninth in 2011 and a lowly 75th in 2010. This year’s report also placed NBA’s Sacramento Kings in last place, with a 122nd ranking.

The magazine wrote via Twitter yesterday: “The @MemGrizz are the best, Sacramento Kings are the worst & [NFL Carolina Panthers player] Cam Newton is on a mission. #FranchiseIssue out Friday.”
