Epic Games receives $2bn investment from Sony, Lego owner Kirkbi

US-based video game and software developer Epic Games has announced a $2bn (€1.8bn) round of funding from existing investor Sony and Kirkbi, the family-owned holding and investment company behind The Lego Group.

The funding is designed to advance Epic Games’ vision to build the metaverse and support the continued growth of the company, which develops the popular Fortnite video game. Sony and Kirkbi have each invested $1bn.
