Following the International Motor Sport Federation (FIA)’s president visit to Botswana, the country is reportedly at an advanced stage of gaining FIA full membership.
The FIA Confederation of African Countries in Motorsport gathered in Gaborone, Botswana, last week, for a two-day conference aimed at building on the continent’s growing role in global motorsport.
Botswana Motor Sport's (BMS) vice-president Gregg Armstrong said the country had made good strides in the sport and hoped to gain full membership soon. He added that FIA president Jean Todt was impressed with what BMS has done and what it plans to do to bring more motor sports to the region, according to Xinhua.
BMS has also received a grant to train officials to organise its own motor sport events.
