The Women's National Basketball Association will not announce an expansion team by the end of 2022 as commissioner Cathy Engelbert had previously hoped to do.
Engelbert confirmed to The Athletic that the league is looking at 10 interested ownership groups. An expansion team would not likely play until 2025 at earliest.
