Watanabe retains FIG presidency, Rolland re-elected at World Rowing

Morinari Watanabe has been re-elected as president of the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG) after seeing off rival challenger Farid Gayibov, while Jean-Christophe Rolland has secured a further four-year term as president of World Rowing.

Japanese official Watanabe, who has been at the helm of FIG since January 1, 2017, obtained 81 votes, against 47 for Gayibov, the only other candidate for the presidency, at the FIG Congress in Antalya, Turkey on Saturday.
