Vodafone Warriors sign two-year sponsorship with Best Foods

National Rugby League team the Vodafone New Zealand Warriors have agreed a sponsorship deal with Unilever-owned mayonnaise brand Best Foods.

The deal began yesterday and runs for two years. The Best Foods logo will appear on the team’s shorts and there will also be in-stadium activations.

Announcing the deal, Best Foods’ Australasian head of business development Matt Rigby said: “We’re stoked to partner the Vodafone Warriors. The team is a potent force in Kiwi communities. We’re proud to be working with an organisation that gives back to the community, has a unique voice in Aotearoa [New Zealand] and, most importantly, has mana [great authority, prestige].”

Glenn Critchley, general manager, commercial at the Vodafone Warriors, said: “Best Foods is a firm favourite in Aotearoa. This sponsorship is a perfect alignment of two like-minded brands and will allow us to continue to make a difference in the lives of New Zealanders of all ages through our game, our brand and our athletes.”

Best Foods is the brand name used in New Zealand for the mayonnaise that is marketed as Hellmann’s in markets including North America, Latin America, Europe, Australia, the Middle East, India and South Africa. The mayonnaise brand was acquired by Unilever in 2000.

The Auckland-based Vodafone Warriors are owned by New Zealand textiles and fibres company Autex Industries, and are the only NRL team from outside of Australia.
