San Diego Wave FC poised to set NWSL attendance record

As of the morning of August 23, San Diego Wave FC has officially sold more tickets than the previous National Women’s Soccer League attendance record with 27,000 tickets sold for the club’s September 17 home opener at the newly built Snapdragon Stadium.

The club, in its inaugural season in the NWSL, will play fellow 2022 expansion team, Los Angeles’ Angel City FC, which has averaged nearly 19,000 fans over eight home games. Wave FC has played its previous games at the University of San Diego’s Torero Stadium, which has a capacity of 6,000. Snapdragon Stadium’s capacity is listed at 35,000.
