Oli Slipper, co-founder of digital sports media group Perform, has been revealed as an investor in the World Street Soccer Championships organisation.
Slipper, as well as Jorg Mohaupt, a serial investor in sports and entertainment who is also a Perform board member, both pledged their support in a first round funding effort run by World Street Soccer as part of its plans to help drive expansion.
Chris Hornbuckle, co-founder of World Street Soccer, will now take on the role of managing director at the organisation. Hornbuckle previously served as head of sponsorship at UK automobile manufacturer Vauxhall Motors.
“This is an exciting moment for the team at World Street Soccer,” Hornbuckle said. “Not only will this investment carry us to the next stage of our development, but to have Jorg and Oli supporting us is incredibly important.”
World Street Soccer Championships is the organisation behind the World Street 3s, the first-ever street soccer global tournament. The inaugural event took place in Manchester, England, in 2016, with details of this year’s second edition to be announced shortly.
