MiLB Missions sold while Frederick, Md. gains a second club

Minor League Baseball's San Antonio Missions, the Class AA affiliate of Major League Baseball's San Diego Padres, have been sold to local business executives at Designated Bidders LLC, marking the first time since the 1980s that the team will be under local ownership.

The deal will see the franchise transfer from Elmore Sports Group, which owns several other minor league sports franchises, to Designated Bidders, who in turn will be joined by Ryan Sanders Baseball, which is owned in part by the family of Baseball Hall of Fame pitcher Nolan Ryan, is also joining as an owner and operator of the club.
