FIL president Fendt to stand down as Fogelis takes over

Josef Fendt, the long-serving president of the International Luge Federation (FIL), has announced he will stand down in June and has requested current FIL secretary general, Latvian Einars Fogelis, succeeds him.

Fendt was appointed temporary president of the FIL in 1994 following the death of founding president Bert Isatitsch in the run up to the Lillehammer Winter Olympics. He was officially elected president at the FIL Congress in June of the same year.
