IMG claims first with eSports representation deals

The IMG agency has furthered its presence in eSports by signing global representation deals with the Cloud9, Dignitas and SK Gaming organisations.

IMG said the announcement marks the first time a major agency has signed eSports organisations of this scale. The partnerships will focus on marketing and endorsement opportunities.

Cloud9 is sponsored by brands including Kingston HyperX, HTC and Intel. Founded in 2012, it fields teams in League of Legends, DOTA 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone, Super Smash Brothers, Heroes of the Storm, SMITE, and Halo.

SK Gaming was established in 1997 and has offices in Germany and Sweden, while UK-based Team Dignitas was founded in 2003 and has won numerous tournaments in several games and genres.

Both SK Gaming and Team Dignitas compete across League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Hearthstone and Heroes of the Storm, among others.

Earlier this year, IMG acquired Global eSports Management, an international talent agency that manages clients across the professional gaming industry.
