FIFA imposes global ban on four English players

FIFA has extended the sanctions imposed by the Football Federation Australia (FFA) on four English players and one Australian official following criminal investigations in relation to alleged match-fixing.

Last month the FFA banned the five Victorian Premier League individuals from taking part in any football-related activity nationwide for allegedly running a multi-million dollar match-fixing operation with bet syndicates in Malaysia and Hungary, according to Reuters.

FIFA has extended the ban to worldwide, which will continue to apply to the individuals until they are either acquitted of the criminal charges or the charges are withdrawn.

If the individuals are convicted of one or more of the criminal charges, the FFA will decide the consequences.
