Major League Baseball’s Cleveland Indians have been officially rebranded the Guardians after shedding the team's long-standing nickname which had been widely deemed as racially offensive.
The franchise had used the Indians name since 1915, shifting at the time from the Naps, which had been a name denoting start player and manager Nap Lajoie.
