China’s Youku ‘strikes five-year deal’ for BWF rights

Chinese streaming service Youku is reported to have acquired media rights to Badminton World Federation events as part of a five-year deal with the international federation.

The agreement, reported by Chinese media outlet EcoSports.cn, includes the BWF World Championships, the Thomas Cup, the Uber Cup and the Sudirman Cup. Youku is also said to have acquired rights to the final stages of the 2022 Badminton Asia Championships, which is currently being staged in the Philippines, in a separate deal with Badminton Asia.
