The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), organiser of the Wimbledon Championships, has reported a net profit of £33.3m ($41.8m) for the year ending July 31, 2021, thanks to the successful staging of last year’s tournament in front of partial-capacity crowds.

The grand slam event organiser was forced to cancel the 2020 championships in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic, causing group turnover for the year to decline by nearly £290m to just £4.9m. However, the AELTC was still able to declare a £20.3m net profit and pay prize money, as well as rebates to broadcasters and sponsors, after claiming £174m from an insurance policy that included pandemic cover.
