Yemen suspends national away games

Yemen’s Football General Union (YFGU) has suspended the national team’s away fixtures for the remainder of the year due to financial issues.

The YFGU is currently $4 million in debt and is using the suspension as a way of pressuring the Ministry of Youth and Sports into paying the debt.

Abdulrahman Sharhan, YFGU secretary, said: “The concerned authorities at the Ministry of Youth and Sport have not considered our demands.”

The Yemen national team currently has away fixtures scheduled for October 15 against Qatar and November 19 against Bahrain.
