Watchdog investigates public broadcaster RTVE over Fifa World Cup advertising sales

Spain’s competition watchdog, the Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC), has opened an investigation into public broadcaster RTVE’s sale of advertising slots for the Fifa 2022 World Cup.

In February, RTVE secured free-to-air rights from the Mediapro agency to show matches from the 2022 Fifa World Cup, which takes place in Qatar from November 20 to December 18.
