Rafael Eli, a partner and chief operating officer at Schramm Marketing Group, the New York-based sponsorship and events agency involved in sports, has died after contracting the Covid-19 virus.
The 68-year-old (pictured) died yesterday (Thursday) after contracting the virus in the middle of March.
He was known as a specialist in Hispanic marketing, sponsorship sales and the promotion of football events.
Eli joined Schramm in 1999 after working in programming sales for ABC Radio International and for AT&T, where he was involved in securing the US-based telecoms operator’s sponsorships of Oscar de la Hoya’s boxing bouts and Major League Soccer.
Business partner Joe Schramm said: “Rafael was proud of his active role in promoting sold-out international soccer events featuring world-class soccer teams at great venues like Giants Stadium, MetLife and Citi Field.”
