UK-based sports brand Umbro has extended its kit supplier deal with Brazilian football club Santos for another season.

The partnership between the brand and club goes back to 1997 and is associated with the club’s most successful moments over the last 20 years.

Santos won the Brazilian Championship wearing an Umbro kit in 2002 and 2004. In 2010, the club won its first Brazilian Cup and, in 2011, South America’s most important club competition – the Copa Libertadores.

Owned by the Iconix Brand Group, Umbro is licensed in Brazil by long-term brand management partner Grupo Dass. In October 2019, the licensing agreement was extended through to 2035.

Separately, rival Brazilian football club Vasco da Gama has agreed to renew sponsorship contracts with olive oil brand Azeite Royal and online casino Netbet. The two companies will continue to brand the club’s playing kit through 2020.

With Azeite Royal and Netbet, Vasco now has four guaranteed sponsors for next season. The others are banking group BMG, the club’s main shirt sponsor, and video game brand Konami.
