German handball team Füchse Berlin has signed up global sportswear brand Puma as its new kit supplier.

As part of the long-term deal, the brand will equip both the Handball Bundesliga team and its youth teams with jerseys, training clothes and accessories. In addition, the brand will also provide original fan articles in the club shop.

The company replaces Danish brand Hummel, which had held the designation since 2014.

The recently renamed Sportfive agency sells sponsorship rights on behalf of Füchse Berlin.

Puma is building a significant presence in handball. In January 2020 it signed a deal with the German Handball Federation (DHB) and it also holds agreements with fellow Handball Bundesliga club Rhein-Neckar Löwen and Borussia Dortmund’s Women’s handball team.

For Füchse Berlin, the deal bolsters a sponsorship portfolio which is headlined by front-of-shirt sponsor, German property company Deutsche Wohnen.

The 2019-20 Handball Bundesliga season was curtailed due the Covid-19 outbreak. The 2020-21 season is due to start in early October 2020, with the fixtures due to be published by the end of July.
