Australian football club Perth Glory has added resource company BHP as a Principal Partner for the 2019-20 football season.
The agreement will see BHP’s logo displayed across the front of the men’s Hyundai A-League and women’s Westfield W-League shirts throughout the upcoming campaign. It will also be featured on all the club’s training wear range.
The deal follows the conclusion of Perth Glory’s association with insurance group QBE, which had filled the position of Principal Partner since 1997.
Both organisations highlighted how their Western Australia connection was key to the new partnership.
BHP WA iron ore asset president, Edgar Basto, said: ‘’Our company and culture is shaped by the many people from diverse cultures and backgrounds around the globe who call Western Australia home, so we think it makes sense to sponsor one of our state’s must successful and diverse sporting teams.’’
Perth Glory’s chief executive, Tony Pignata, said: ‘’BHP is a global powerhouse in the resources field and its Western Australian operations play a key role in driving the state and national economy.”
The new BHP-sponsored shirts will be on display for the first time when the Hyundai A-League season begins on Sunday October 13.
