French Ligue 1 club Nîmes Olympique has signed a shirt sponsorship deal with medical equipment specialist Bastide Médical starting next season.
Rani Assaf, president of Nîmes Olympique, told French regional press sources the deal is worth “several hundred thousand euros” per year but does not exceed €1m ($1.12m).
Vincent Bastide, president of Bastide Médical, said the sponsorship was “interesting and atypical” for the company and would bring “visibility for the group, while getting involved in the local club”.
The contract of the club’s previous main shirt sponsor, real estate development company, Hectare, ended this season. The company is reportedly in negotiations with the club concerning other sponsorship positions.
The Bastide Médical group is based in Caissargues, just outside Nîmes in southern France. The group specialises in the sale and rental of medical and home support equipment.
According to regional reports, the group would like to relocate its headquarters around the new Stade des Costières, the club’s home ground, which will be completely demolished and rebuilt with a capacity of 15,100 seats.
Basitide said the medical group would also bring their expertise in nutrition and sleep to the club to optimise on-field performance and integrate the group’s sleep medical specialists with the club’s medical staff.
