Netherlands to host ITF’s World Team Cup

The International Tennis Federation (ITF) global governing body has announced that the finals of its 2014 World Team Cup flagship wheelchair tennis team event will be held in Alphen, the Netherlands.

The event will be hosted by the Dutch Tennis Federation national governing body at the Nieuwe Sloot Tennis Centre in Alphen from May 26 until June 1, 2014.

It will mark the third occasion the country has hosted the event, with Roermond and Groningen having hosted the 1995 and 2005 tournaments, respectively. Netherlands is also the most successful country in the history of the World Team Cup having won a total of 40 titles across all four categories.

The 2014 event, which will be the 30th edition of the tournament, will welcome a total of 105 teams from 48 countries. Four regional qualification rounds in Kenya, Puerto Rico, Sri Lanka and Turkey will determine the four men’s and four women’s teams that will progress to the Alphen final.
