Minsk to stage 2019 European Figure Skating Championships

The International Skating Union (ISU) has announced that the 2019 European Figure Skating Championships will take place in the Belarusian capital of Minsk.

The decision was made by the ISU during its council meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. Other cities bidding to stage the event were Zagreb, Croatia; Graz, Austria; Kiev, Ukraine and Tallinn, Finland.

The multi-purpose Minsk Arena will stage the Championships from January 21-27, 2019. The venue also hosted the European Speed Skating Championships in January this year.

The Slovakian capital of Bratislava staged this year’s European Figure Skating Championships in January, while Ostrava in the Czech Republic will play host in 2017. Moscow in Russia will stage the 2018 edition before the event travels to Minsk the following year.
