London Olympics venue to house British Swimming

The London 2012 Olympic Aquatics Centre will become British Swimming’s high-performance diving venue from spring next year.

The pool has been transformed since the 2012 Games, and British Swimming will now work alongside venue operator GLL and the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to provide a world-class diving facility.

National performance director Alexei Evangulov said: “We are really pleased to have an HPC at the pool that was used for the Olympic Games and are excited about when the doors open in the spring. A facility like this will help shape the next generation of athletes and allow them to see what an elite competition venue is like on a day-to-day basis.”

A LLDC statement read: “The Centre will be a high-performance training facility and competition venue, as well as open to the public for the same price as the average cost at local pools. These elite sports will sit alongside community sports to provide a lasting legacy for all.”
