Kansas City Royals evaluate building new downtown ballpark

Major League Baseball's Kansas City Royals are considering constructing a new downtown ballpark as they evaluate their long-term stadium options, with a decade remaining on the lease at long-term venue Kauffman Stadium.

The Royals' rental agreement at Kauffman Stadium – now MLB's sixth-oldest ballpark – ends in 2031 and the team are beginning to consider whether to renovate the 48-year-old facility or press ahead with building a new venue.
