The International Paralympic Committee has changed course on the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes at the forthcoming 2022 winter Paralympic Games, removing them from the event in Beijing after claiming that the situation in the athlete villages has become “untenable”.

Today’s (Thursday’s) decision is set to affect 83 athletes in total and comes just 24 hours after the IPC ruled that Russian and Belarusian athletes would be able to participate in Beijing, albeit as neutral competitors.
