Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami CF has signed a multiyear, multi-faceted partnership with South Florida-based healthcare organization Baptist Health.

Baptist Health will serve as the official medical team, hospital system and sports medicine provider for Inter Miami’s expansion MLS and USL League One teams, as well as the club’s academy teams.

Baptist Health will also become the main jersey sponsor of the Inter Miami CF Academy teams ahead of the 2020-21 season. The length and terms of the deal were not revealed.

MLS has reported 26 positive Covid-19 tests as the league prepares for its “MLS is Back Tournament” beginning next month in Florida.

The positive tests involved 18 players and six staff members prior to teams arriving in Orlando for the event at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, and two more player positives on site.

The quarantined tournament is scheduled to begin on July 8 with a doubleheader involving Orlando City SC against Inter Miami CF, and Nashville SC playing Chicago Fire FC.

Elsewhere, the MLS expansion team in Charlotte, North Carolina, will release its team name, colors, and branding in late July, Charlotte Agenda reports.

Possible names include: Charlotte Crown FC, Charlotte Fortune FC, Charlotte Monarchs FC, Carolina Gliders FC, Charlotte FC, Charlotte Athletic FC, Charlotte Town FC, and All Carolina FC.

More than 8,000 fans have already paid season-ticket deposits, which is likely to convert into more than 20,000 season tickets. The team remains on course to enter MLS in 2021.
