Fifa has suspended the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and revoked the country’s hosting rights for the forthcoming Under-17 Women’s World Cup because of “undue influence from third parties”.

The move follows a long-running dispute that has seen the Supreme Court of India appoint a committee of administrators to run the federation following the reluctance of then-AIFF president Praful Patel to vacate the role at the end of his third term, the maximum permitted under the country’s national sports code, back in 2020.
