Dentsu Sports Asia, T2APAC announce joint venture

T2 Asia-Pacific Table Tennis League (T2APAC) and Dentsu Sports Asia (DSA) have entered into a landmark joint venture, through which the latter has acquired a 20-per-cent equity stake in the pan-regional competition.

DSA, the Singapore-based sports marketing subsidiary of Dentsu Inc., will exclusively manage global sales and marketing of all commercial rights to T2APAC. DSA will work with T2APAC to modernise table tennis by expanding the league’s digital content and activations across all platforms.

The news comes after the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) recently partnered with T2APAC, with the league to be launched as new ‘Diamond-tier’ events.

Jeff Chue, chief executive and commissioner of T2APAC, said: “Our vision for T2APAC is to fully professionalise the sport, and reshape the image of table tennis into a dynamic spectator sport that engages global audiences. With the great success of Season 1 in 2017, I am confident that Dentsu’s extensive sports and marketing expertise and global network will help to further foster the growth of T2APAC into a dynamic sports league at the forefront of global sports.”

T2APAC, which launched last year, has separate but concurrent men’s, women’s and mixed-team championships, a player draft system, 24-minute time limit per match and a unique scoring system.
