The Buffalo Sabres have announced a partnership with Seneca Resorts & Casinos, which will become the exclusive sportsbook partner of the National Hockey League team.
The deal expands the relationship between Sabres’ parent company Pegula Sports & Entertainment and the New York state tribal gaming operator. In September, the National Football League’s Buffalo Bills, who are also owned by Pegula Sports, signed a similar deal with Seneca Resorts.
Last month, the Seneca Sports Lounge opened at the Sabres’ venue KeyBank Center, which has the capacity for sports betting inside the arena in the future.
Seneca Resorts is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Seneca Gaming Corporation, a tribally chartered corporation of the Seneca Nation of Indians which operates gaming operations in Western New York.
Sports wagering at its three gaming properties – Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino, Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, and Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino – will begin within the next few weeks. Under current law, New York’s commercial casinos were allowed to start sports betting once the federal ban fell in 2018.
