The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) has lined up Budapest to host its 2023 World Championships, while the suspension of the Russian Athletics Federation (RusAF) has been upheld but could be removed in December.
The announcements came at an IAAF Council meeting in Buenos Aires. Under new bidding rules for the showpiece World Championships, the Council was informed of discussions with European cities and approved the recommendation that the Hungarian capital be declared the preferred European city to host the event in 2023.
