Online gambling company BetVictor has renewed its sponsorship of The Gold Cup at Cheltenham Racecourse’s November meeting until 2021.
Under the three-year deal, the brand will title The BetVictor Gold Cup Handicap Steeple Chase, worth £160,000 in prize money, as well three other races at the event: The G3 BetVictor.com Handicap Chase, The BetVictor Handicap Chase and The BetVictor SmartCards Intermediate Handicap Hurdle.
As part of the agreement with The Jockey Club – the owners of Cheltenham Racecourse – the ITV Racing blimp will bear BetVictor branding during the event and the four-days of the more celebrated Cheltenham Festival in March 2020.
The blimp is operated by free-to-air broadcaster ITV to offer aerial views of the racetrack.
Ian Renton, regional director, Cheltenham & The South West, said: “The November Meeting is very much a mini-Festival these days, with over 70,000 through the gates, and to work with BetVictor in its sponsorship of the highlight race of the fixture – The BetVictor Gold Cup – is something I know both parties find of huge benefit.”
Matt Scarrott, director of Sportsbook at BetVictor, said BetVictor “didn’t think twice” when it decided to continue with the sponsorship of The BetVictor Gold Cup.
BetVictor has been an active sponsor of sport since it rebranded from Victor Chandler in 2012.
In football, BetVictor was Premier League club Liverpool’s training kit partner from 2016-17 to 2018-19. Liverpool replaced BetVictor in the betting category with 1xBet in a global deal which was suspended in September because of irregularities in 1xBet’s business practices.
BetVictor is currently title sponsor of the three main regional feeder leagues to England’s national league pyramid – the Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern Leagues – in a two-year deal, from 2019-20 to 2020-21.
In snooker, the brand is title sponsor of the European Masters, German Masters, Snooker Shoot Out and Gibraltar Open, creating a newly-branded BetVictor European Series this year.
